The Maker Behind 413 Knives

I’ve always enjoyed making things with my hands, but over the past 15 years, knifemaking has become a real passion of mine. There’s just something about taking a piece of steel and turning it into a knife that someone can use, carry, hunt with, and hopefully one day pass down to someone else.

That’s really what 413 Knives is about.

I make everything from one-of-a-kind custom knives and Damascus pieces to hardworking hunting knives, knives for the kitchen, and everyday carry knives. If you’re looking for something completely unique—something nobody else has—I’d love to build it. If you just want a great knife that you can throw on your belt, put in your pocket, and actually use every day, I can make that too.

I spent almost three decades in the Army, and that experience has had a big influence on the way I approach my work. It taught me that details matter, that you take pride in doing a job right, and that the things you depend on need to work when you need them. I try to bring that same mindset into every knife I make.

I especially enjoy creating one-of-a-kind pieces. Different steels, Damascus patterns, handle materials, finishes, and small details give me the opportunity to make something that belongs specifically to the person I'm building it for. No two handmade knives need to be exactly alike.

At the same time, I believe a beautiful knife should still be a knife. It should feel good in your hand, hold up to real use, and do the job it was made to do.

Some knives are going to spend their lives in the field. Some will be carried every day. Others may eventually be handed from a father to a son, a grandfather to a grandson, or simply from one generation to the next.

Those are the knives I want to make.
